WHOOPSIE: Child passenger hurt after mom swerved to avoid hitting stray dog…

HYANNIS – At about 4pm, police and rescue rushed to the parking area behind the Horace Mann Charter Public School (Formally Hyannis East Elementary) after a car crashed into a tree.
According Lieutenant Michael Clark of the Barnstable Police Department, a mom had just picked up her children and was driving toward the exit when a dog suddenly ran in front of the vehicle. The mom reportedly had to swerve the car to avoid striking the dog, leaving the pavement and driving directly onto a tree. The vehicle’s airbags deployed and the tree was bent from the force of the collision.
A young child was treated for a laceration and transported to CCH for further treatment.
The stray dog fled into the woods uninjured and remains at large tonight…
