Woman assaulted and thrown from vehicle… [Developing]
Hyannis – Details are still very sketchy… The call came in at approximately 9:30pm requesting police to assist Hyannis Rescue with a woman found lying on the side of road near the intersection Gosnold Street and Old Colony Road. She was originally unable to stand up.
The woman in her early twenties was reportedly trying to get up off the ground as police were just arriving.
According to police radio transmissions, the woman reported she was the victim of an assault and thrown from a vehicle.
Hyannis Rescue evaluated the young woman but did not transport her to the hospital. It appeared she did not sustain serious injury as she was up walking and smoking a cigarette. She was, however, notably upset…
A Barnstable County Identification Officer was summoned to the scene for photos. Police and the CIO also focused on a nearby parking area that may have been the exact location where the victim was thrown from the vehicle.
Another patrolman also went to McDonald’s on North Street to look at their surveillance video footage. Possibly where she was last seen with the person(s) in the vehicle…
Conversations with sources on the street shed light on many details about the young woman’s complicated past. Problems and unfortunate difficulties which may have been a factor in tonight’s incident.
Certainly a very sad situation. Let’s hope this young lady gets the help and support she needs…
Aside from herself, the victim claimed her cellphone was also thrown from the vehicle. She also appeared to be recently homeless with her two suitcases and nowhere to go.
If things couldn’t be worse, this female appears to have been a combatant in altercation earlier in the day. It’s uncertain if that incident had anything to do with tonight’s events.
A Barnstable Patrolman gave her lift to the local homeless shelter.
It is still uncertain if police have a suspect, or whether or not there is merit in tonight’s allegations. It does, however, appear that police are investigating a serious enough crime to warrant photos, and a search for evidence.
Hyannis News is withholding the victims name and other unfortunate details that may be a factor in tonight’s incident.
