*** WATCH *** Massachusetts State Trooper stops driver negligently operating wrong way on Route 6…
YARMOUTH – As you will see and hear in the following HN Video, at about 12:55 a.m. this morning, Massachusetts State Troopers, Yarmouth Police, and Barnstable Police received calls regarding a silver Toyota pickup truck driving erratically and eventually traveling the wrong way westbound in the eastbound lanes of Route 6, between the old Exits 8 and 7.
Fortunately – this time – a state trooper was able to catch up to and have a word with the driver in question just as he was exiting the highway at the old Exit 7.
The investigation revealed no signs of impairment, according to the trooper’s radio communications. The driver was, however, issued a summons for Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
Wrong-way drivers wreak havoc on our highways, often causing death and serious injuries. Just this past Wednesday morning, a man was struck and killed by a wrong-way driver on Interstate 195 in Somerset. According to WCVB, a wrong-way driver in a Volvo “struck a Nissan Sentra, which was traveling in the correct direction, head-on… The Nissan burst into flames… The Nissan’s driver and sole occupant, a 21-year-old Portsmouth, Rhode Island, man was pronounced dead at the scene.”
