YARMOUTH DRUG BUST: Two rookie patrolmen arrest couple after...

YPD MEDIA STATEMENT:

COUPLE ARRESTED FOR USING HEROIN AT CLOSED BEACH PARKING LOT

On June 6, 2019 at approximately 1AM, Yarmouth Police Department Patrol Officers Liam Breen and Michael Chueng checked on suspicious white Honda Pilot in the parking lot at Parkers River Beach, which closed at 10PM.

Two people were found inside the vehicle passed out.

In between the passenger and the driver Police Officers observed two white bottle caps (with pieces of cotton in each of the two and one of the bottle caps had a clear hypodermic needle cap in it), and a Q-tip cotton swab located in front of the cup holders on a console lid indicating illegal drug use.

Both subjects were woken up, interviewed, and subsequently placed under arrest.

Inside the vehicle were multiple hypodermic needles on the floor, in the pockets of the doors, and in the center console.

Silver Cloud Towing removed the vehicle from the scene.

Both suspects were transported to Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters.

Upon completion of the booking process, the Civilian Bail Commissioner set the bail at Personal Recognizance and both suspects were release upon paying the $40 Bail Commissioner fee.

Both suspects are scheduled for arraignment today in the Barnstable District court.

INITIAL HN REPORT:

SOUTH YARMOUTH – [DEVELOPING] – A man and woman were arrested after a couple of alert rookie patrolmen began investigating a suspicious vehicle this morning shortly prior to 1:00 a.m..

As you will see and hear in the following video, at about 12:50 a.m., additional Yarmouth squad cars, including a state police unit, began responding to the parking lot at Parker’s River Beach to assist the two first year patrolmen. According to state police radio traffic, a responding trooper was concerned about a possible disturbance of some sort.

Everything was calm when HN arrived on scene at about 1:00 a.m.. A man and woman were already in custody and seated inside separate cruisers as officers continued to investigate the contents of their vehicle.

According to sources, the man and woman are likely going to be charged with Possession (Updated with YPD media statement, see above)…
