Actual YPD press release:
SOUTH YARMOUTH — On the early evening of Monday, October 27th, 2014 Yarmouth Police Detective Christopher VaNess and Patrol Officer Michael Wells were patrolling together in an unmarked police cruiser in a specialized plainclothes PACU Anti-Crime assignment.
At approximately 5:30PM, three individuals were observed standing in front of the Cumberland Farms convenience store located at 1297 Route 28 in South Yarmouth. One of the individuals we recognized as being Adam Veary who had several outstanding warrants.
Detective VanNess and Patrol Officer Wells approached the trio, identified themselves as Police Officers, and immediately placed Veary under arrest.
A subsequent search of Veary revealed a clear plastic bag containing separate knotted baggies containing 10 grams of a tan powder which field tested positive as heroin. Veary also had a metal spoon with burn marks and three capped hypodermic syringes, one of which was “loaded” or full of heroin and a small bundle of rope, often used to tie off the arm to locate the vein for the syringe.
