YPD: PAC and detectives arrest heroin user for multiple break-ins…
The following is the actual YPD press statement:
On Friday, November 18, 2016 at approximately 4PM, Yarmouth Police Department Proactive Anti-Crime Unit Officer Christopher VanNess and Yarmouth Police Detective Eric Nuss located and arrested a known drug user while he was standing in a driveway on Forest Road in South Yarmouth for possession of heroin.
The suspect was subsequently processed at Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters and interviewed regarding a string of day time and nighttime break-ins into unlocked motor vehicles in neighborhoods along the Forest Road corridor of South and West Yarmouth that have occurred in the past month.
Based on the results of the interview, the suspect was charged with several counts of breaking into vehicles and stealing items that the suspect would later either sell for cash at local stores to use to buy drugs or trade directly for drugs from local drug dealers.
Numerous items believed to be stolen items—including several watches, a computer tablet, and a camera—were subsequently seized from the suspect’s mother’s residence in South Yarmouth and the investigation is active and ongoing with additional charges to follow.
The suspect was released on bail and is scheduled for arraignment in the Barnstable District Court today, Monday, November 21, 2016.
