BREAKING: FATAL PEDESTRIAN HIT AND RUN ACCIDENT IN CENTERVILLE … [HN VIDEO]
UPDATE:
On Saturday January 6 at approximately 3:00 pm Sarah Hunt, a 33 year old resident of Centerville came into the Barnstable Police Station to report that she was the suspect driver in the fatal hit and run. Hunt then had conversation with Barnstable Detectives and admitted to being the driver during the accident and leaving the scene. Barnstable Detectives recovered the damaged tan 2000 Toyota Camry used in the accident from the garage of Hunt’s home.
Hunt was subsequently arrested and charged with Motor Vehicle Homicide by Negligent Operation, Leaving the Scene of an Accident after Death and Operating a Motor Vehicle with an Open Container. Hunt was bailed on personal recognizance and is scheduled to be arraigned in Barnstable District Court on Monday January 8, 2018.

… the Toyota is possibly gold in color and should have heavy front end damage.
As you will see in the following HN Video, at about 7:50PM, police and rescue rushed to Route 28 in front of the Bell Tower Mall where they found the pedestrian down in the roadway.
Rescue quickly transported the victim to CCH… but later local police agencies were announcing it as a “fatal hit and run accident,” putting out BOLOs looking for the Toyota that allegedly fled the scene.

Fatal Hit and Run Motor Vehicle Crash Involving Pedestrian
At approximately 7:50 p.m. on January 5, 2018, the Barnstable Police Department received several 911 calls reporting a seriously injured man lying in the westbound lane of Route 28 in Centerville in the area of the Bell Tower Mall.
Officers arrived on scene with the COMM Fire Department and located a 62 year old male suffering from severe trauma. It appeared that the male had been struck by a vehicle, which then fled the scene. The male victim was transported to Cape Cod Hospital by COMM Fire and was subsequently pronounced dead. Traffic on Route 28 was diverted as the Barnstable Police Crash Reconstruction Unit conducted their preliminary investigation. The road was reopened for normal traffic approximately 90 minutes later.
The suspect vehicle is believed to be a Toyota sedan (Corolla, Camry or Avalon) that is light in color (brown, grey or champagne). It has damage to some or all of the following areas: front end, grill, hood, windshield and the roof. The suspect is described as a white female in her late twenties / early thirties with black hair. She is described as wearing blue jeans and a light colored coat and she smokes cigarettes. The female suspect got out of the vehicle and checked on the victim before getting back in her vehicle and fleeing the scene headed westbound on Route 28.

COMM FD responded to a report of a person lying in the road. Car 321 and Ambulance 324 arrived on location. Patient was found in the road with life threatening injuries. Ambulance 326 arrived on location to assist. Patient was transported to Cape Cod Hospital ER. Barnstable PD arrived and remained on location to investigate.
