UPDATED: BHS student transported to CCH with laceration above eye… after violent altercation on school grounds… [Video]
UPDATED – 9pm – 6/17/2014 – According to the CC Times, Barnstable Superintendent Mary Czajkowski confirmed today’s facial laceration was indeed the result of fight between students…. and also, according to Principle Patrick Clark, a “housemaster” described today’s violence as an incident where two “friends” were squirting water at each other on school grounds… the squirting escalated to “slapping…” then to one student being injured after her head “nicked” either a table or the floor…
This information comes at a time when Barnstable Public Schools is already under scrutiny for recent abuse allegations at Centerville Elementary…
… which leads HN to wonder why the BHS Principal’s Office was not more forthcoming with information regarding today’s act of violence which sent a teenage girl to CCH.

HYANNIS – It remains uncertain as to what actually caused an injury to a female student’s face today at Barnstable High School…
At about 12:20pm, Barnstable Police and Hyannis Rescue responded to the high school for what was originally described as a student with a laceration above the eye “as the result of an assault.”
The school resource officer, requested for rescue to respond to the school’s bus port…
A source on scene indicated to Hyannis News that the injury was actually the result of some type of slip and fall… not an assault as originally put out over the radio.
Hyannis News was also advised the student was a juvenile and as a result made the necessary edits to protect the teenager’s identity…
The BHS principal’s office was unable to confirm or deny whether today’s incident was the result of some type of assault, also stating “no comment” when asked if there was any information that could be provided…
A representative of the Hyannis Fire Department was able to share that they did transport to CCH and that the injury was considered non-life-threatening…
