HYANNIS – [DEVELOPING] – At about 7pm, a 9-year-old boy was seriously wounded by dog bites.
Police and rescue rushed to 139 Compass Circle to assist the little boy. Witnesses reported the man and his dog may have been leaving the area.
HN arrived along with police and rescue, and encountered the dog and its owner. The dog owner surprisingly pretended he didn’t know what was going on with the ambulance and police responding to his neighbor’s house. The male owner and his dog matched the description put out by police. HN asked the man if he or his dog had been involved. The man surprisingly denied being involved or anywhere near the scene.
Based to the possibility of HN images, the dog’s owner later admitted to being outside with his dog at the time of the dog bite. Based on witness statements, police quickly learned they were dealing with the owner of the dog which had bitten the 9-year-old.
One witness said the dog may have been running loose at the time of the attack… that information has not yet been officially confirmed.
The 9-year-old boy had injuries to his hand, along with a serious laceration to his upper arm area. Firefighters reportedly tried to distract the boy from looking at the more serious injury in an effort to keep him calm. The boy was taken to CCH for immediate treatment…
A Barnstable Animal Control Officer is investigating the incident along with Barnstable Police. ACO Charlie Lewis responded to the owner’s home at 109 Compass Circle and placed the dog on a ten day at home quarantine, sources say. The investigation is reportedly ongoing…
