Augusto and his pack were recently featured on Inside Edition…
Whether you’re a fan, or even one of the vocal minority of his haters, you have to admit that Augusto is probably one of the most popular dog handlers in the United States right now.
For broadcasters and publishers he’s simply pure gold; his story, along with images of his well behaved pack, drives readership, viewership, internet traffic, and overall ratings.
Hyannis News sees a tremendous spike in viewers whenever his name is merely mentioned. Publishers and producers, both locally and abroad, monitor Augusto’s story continually…
Even his haters, a very small number of people fixated on him, have an ongoing obsession regarding every move he makes; some spending just about every waking moment, lusting for news of his next move; whether it’s about him taking a vacation trip, or whether it’s just a newly posted photo of one of his adorable puppies, Augusto has managed to become the driving force and highlight of even his detractors’ daily doings…
It all translates into notoriety and popularity, with the large majority of the people advocating support. Last time I checked, Augusto had about 70,000 supporters on facebook alone.
The number of facebook followers continues to skyrocket, with new facebook pages popping up left and right!
Celebrities are like that. They attract and sometimes even divide… They’re like a razor sharp knife, supporters and fans falling to one side, haters overcome with jealously falling to the other, seemingly unable to live without expressing their hate for him. There simply is no middle ground when it comes to Augusto, and like most celebrities, his popularity comes from him just being himself – a razor of truth!
Americans love dog stories, always have, always will. Celebrity dog handlers make great television and copy. From Cesar Millan, the West Coast’s dog whispering sensation, to Augusto, the East Coast’s up-and-coming favorite dog handler, Americans simply cannot get enough.
Both Cesar and Augusto have their critics, but the number of critics pale in comparison to the extraordinary ever-growing number of faithful supporters and fans.
So why are these dog handlers so special? It’s a basic formula, which begins with honesty, simplicity, humility, kindness, and results…
Augusto expresses a simple and honest message which adheres to time tested training methods, hard work, and respectful dealings. He also walks the walk… and his dogs happily follow.
Not bad for a young man who’s only in his early 20s.
Augusto is not merely a technician, he’s an artist, and like all artists, there are those who get it, while others never will.
Thankfully for Augusto, Americans are well versed and educated about dogs, with the overwhelming majority able to understand and truly appreciate his skills. Just about every educated dog handler recognizes they are watching a gifted individual.
But unfortunately, all this popularity and notoriety comes at a price…
Augusto has received hate mail and even death threats from an obsessed persistent group of stalkers.
Last evening, after the Patriots’ win, someone sent this very explicit death threat to Augusto’s email account:
Police and detectives, along with private assets across two states, are taking this most recent threat very seriously. The investigation is ongoing and HN will provide updates as they become available.
Also of note, about two weeks ago, HN published a story where Augusto rescued a German Shepherd that was running in and out of Hyannis traffic. He found and returned the lost pet to his worried owner later that same evening. Literally within moments of posting that story, HN began receiving hate mail and hate posts to the HN site. One of the obsessed individuals even telephoned HN, upset she wasn’t allowed to spread her hate on the HN website.
Another unwanted contact came from a woman who continually stalks Augusto and even set up a facebook hate page solely designed to defame and hurt the young man. Other threats and hate emails are ongoing… some from people with multiple fake identities.
Just about all of Augusto’s haters have never even met him. It’s as if the haters have become some type of bizarre obsessed delusional cult… And after reading some their posts, it’s clear the members are sick depraved individuals with nothing better to do… But when hate turns to threats, that’s when the authorities begin to look into the situation…
On a more positive note, an anti-hate facebook page has just recently been set up to support Augusto while he’s being persecuted by this certain group of cyber-stalkers. Click here to join and support the cause, which asks facebook to ban the defamatory hate page… you can show your support against hate and violence by liking the page and sharing…
