HN PHOTO NOTES: Comes now a beautiful couple, to be married despite the usual ugly violence on the green…

HN PHOTO NOTES: Ah springtime, when a young Hyannis man’s fancy turns to thoughts of love…
… and pummeling one another on the village green.
The natives realize the hub of Cape Cod is a city of stark contrasts (especially as the young bucks become increasingly frisky, as the finer things begin to blossom); a lively harbor and breathtaking shoreline on one hand, violent frisky morons on the other. And this morning was no exception…
Shortly after 11:00 a.m. – Good Friday, 2025 Anno Domini – Barnstable Police officers and Hyannis Firefighters responded to the Hyannis Village Green for an assault victim. It was described as a “simple assault,” which in cop parlance basically means officers did not have probable cause to make a warrant-less arrest should they ever happen upon the alleged assaulter. But nonetheless…
… a young adult male had suffered what were believed to be minor injuries. And he was eventually transported to Cape Cod Hospital for further evaluation.
It’s boring stuff, reporting on the fat lips and black eyes from the frequent, frisky fisticuffs on the Hyannis Village Green – so boring in fact, that if the injuries do not rise to “major” or “life-threatening,” (which wouldn’t be unprecedented), HN often decides to not bother publishing what we long-suffering Hytown residents consider to be some of the less fortunate, uglier signs of spring…
… but then suddenly, the merciful news gods sent down a holy image from far, far above the daily mess outside of Barnstable Town Hall.
Out of the blue, it was a fresh-faced, handsome United States Marine and his strikingly beautiful bride-to-be!
The strapping young “Ben” from Sandwich and the stunningly vibrant “Mary” from Medway, Massachusetts, both in the springtime of their lives, joyfully followed a Justice of the Peace up the front steps to be married inside town hall.
Watching this miraculous, more attractive side of Hyannis living unfold, one instantly became oblivious to the violent nonsense which had occurred moments prior. It was a blessing from above, to say the least…
Ben told HN he once worked with a local towing company and remembers me from earlier crash scenes. He is still in the process of his specialized training as a U.S. Marine and expects to be soon assigned to a Marine Regiment in Fort Devens, Massachusetts.
Congratulations Ben and Mary! And thank you for today’s inspiring gift amid the daily downtown nonsense! May God bless you both and keep you both safe and sound!
