“STEP IT UP” : Male and female bikers ‘critical’ after slamming into another vehicle… [CALL AUDIO]
HYANNIS – At about 8:56 p.m. last evening, Barnstable Police and Hyannis Rescue responded to the area of 35 Iyannough Road for a crash involving a motorcycle vs. car.
As you will hear in the following HN Video with Hyannis Fire Department emergency radio traffic, one of the first responders on scene could be heard requesting for ambulances to “step it up.”
A Hyannis FD incident commander could then be heard requesting two ambulances for both motorcycle passengers. Moments later, command also requested two medflights for the both passengers. One for a female described as being approximately 40-years-old, who was said to be unresponsive and suffering multisystem trauma. A second medflight was requested for a male, described as being approximately 40-years-old, also unresponsive and suffering multisystem trauma. Medflight helicopters, however, were unavailable at the time due to weather. Cape Cod Hospital was then placed on trauma alert for both patients. Both patients were then transported to CCH in “priority one” condition.
A mutual aid ambulance from Yarmouth FD was called to evaluate the passengers of an involved sedan. A woman and an infant from the sedan were transported to CCH in “priority three” condition.
The roadway was completely closed down as a Barnstable Police accident reconstruction unit investigated.
The current condition of both unresponsive motorcycle passengers has not yet been officially released.
HN was not at this particular scene at the time of the crash. The following HN Video contains photos of the area of the crash. All taken early this morning. As you will see, the scene still had pieces of the motorcycle. The HN Video also contains Hyannis FD emergency radio traffic. HN will provide official updates as they become available.
