STILL WANTED by the Yarmouth and Barnstable Police Departments
William BENTON is wanted on 5 arrest warrants issued by the Barnstable County Superior and District Courts.
On April 18, 2015, BENTON was involved in an argument at a Yarmouth residence with another male. The dispute escalated and BENTON brandished a knife and allegedly stabbed the victim in the torso multiple times. The victim was transported to Cape Cod Hospital with life threatening injuries but survived after undergoing emergency surgery. BENTON fled the scene on foot and Yarmouth PD subsequently charged him with Attempted Murder and Assault and Battery With a Dangerous Weapon.
In addition, on May 10, 2014, BENTON was involved in an argument with a different male at the Keyes Memorial Beach in Hyannis. The male was accompanied by his child at the time. As the two continued to argue, BENTON allegedly produced a gun and shot at the male. No one was injured and Barnstable PD arrested BENTON driving in the area a short time later. BENTON did not appear for a scheduled court date and faces multiple Firearms and Assault charges in this incident. BENTON has three additional warrants including two for Assault related offenses. He has an extensive criminal record in Massachusetts and is known to have access to Firearms, Knives, and other weapons. BENTON has ties throughout Cape Cod including Mashpee, Yarmouth, Hyannis and Falmouth.
He should be considered Armed and Dangerous.
