NEWS BRIEFS: Police looking for man who “chucked” a knife at a convenience store patron…
CENTERVILLE – At about 10:00PM last evening, Barnstable squad cars rushed to the 7-Eleven on Route 28 to assist after a man said he was hit with a knife “chucked” in anger.
The call initially came into police as a “stabbing,” but the man was reportedly uninjured after the knife luckily bounced off his arm.
Barnstable Police are still investigating, but according to sources, the suspect had been behaving aggressively prior to suddenly throwing the knife…
A BOLO was given out to police departments in neighboring towns, looking for a black male driving a black pickup truck with a large amount of brush in its bed.
Police are treating the incident as an assault and battery involving a knife, but there was no actual stabbing.

A Hyannis man was arrested for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon last evening after being confronted by concerned parents at a condo complex on Pitcher’s Way.

Neighbors say the man has a history of yelling at their children out playing in the area. Police have also reportedly responded to deal with this man on other occasions…
When things allegedly escalated to the point of the man waiving a “pipe” at one mother, neighbors called police.
About ten neighbors met after the incident to discuss how to deal with the man’s behavior in the future. They were concerned for their children and their own safety, voicing the need to avoid violence at all costs. The young elementary school aged children were also advised on how to avoid contact with this individual.
Police were unable to release further details at the time of this report.
NOTE: All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty…

Disturbance on Cedar Street…

HYANNIS – A man was reportedly arrested for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, along with Assault and Battery after a loud and volatile disturbance on Cedar Street last evening.
The call initially came in as a man being robbed by a female. When HN arrived, a male was being taken into custody. A very angry female was also taken back to police headquarters and was reportedly also facing the possibility of criminal charges…
The incident is under investigation by the BPD and additional details were unavailable at the time of this report.

On Saturday evening and early Sunday morning the Yarmouth Police Department Patrol Force arrested three drunken drivers within a 5 hour period.
All were booked at Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters and all [were] scheduled for arraignment in the Barnstable District Court today.
