Photos: Soon (May 15) the public beaches of the People’s Republic of Barnstable will be off limits to happy dogs… and today was an excellent sunny mild day to get out there and pretend you still live in a town that permits responsible dog handlers to decide where they can freely travel.
Remember when we didn’t live in such a “Nanny Town?”
Sadly we live in a society that allows illegal aliens, thugs, and drug dealers to break serious laws with impunity… but get your dog’s paws sandy during the summer and you’re toast!
I need to be careful and shouldn’t protest too much, I’ve heard the local dog catchers are “ruff!” People may get away with driving without licenses and car insurance… and drug dealers routinely laugh in the face of our “justice system…” But from what I’m told you do NOT want the long arm of our local seasoned animal control officers after you…
Besides the town law makers do magnanimously grant us dog lovers the winter months to stretch our legs with our furry best friends… we should, after all, feel grateful… shouldn’t we?
So get out there old school Cape Codders with your well behaved four legged friends! Breathe the fresh sea breeze and enjoy your town regulated sense of freedom while it lasts!
