Police impound dirt bike after chase…

Hyannis – Yesterday afternoon members of the regional Street Crimes Unit were in pursuit of a dirt bike fleeing the wrong way down Route 132.
Police picked up the pursuit in the area of Phinney’s Lane. The two males fleeing on the dirtbike were not wearing helmets… they were fleeing from police on the wrong side of Route 132.
A high-ranking SCU officer called off the pursuit for safety reasons…
But that didn’t stop officers from continuing the investigation.

A while later, after following dirt bike tire markings in the area between Route 132 and Shoot Flying Hill Road… SCU located an abandoned newer model Yamaha dirt bike in a wooded area behind the Craigville Motel on Shoot Flying Hill Road.

Officers called for photographs and impounded the dirt bike…

The incident remains under investigation by members of the SCU…
