Trooper hurt after reportedly swerving to avoid striking deer… [VIDEO]
BARNSTABLE – There were some nerve-racking moments as police and firefighters rushed to the scene of a single car crash involving a Massachusetts State Trooper…
At precisely 1:00AM, Barnstable Police, Massachusetts State Police, and Barnstable Rescue responded to the area of Route 6A and Ice House Lane for a crash where a state police cruiser left the roadway.
There was initially was some confusion about the exact location… and there was at least one early report of possible entrapment.
HN arrived shortly after the crash and was informed that the trooper swerved to avoid striking a deer.
The trooper was able to report via police radio that he had just been involved in a crash… there was injury, but he was able to communicate with his dispatch.
HN observed the trooper on a stretcher and speaking with rescue personnel, he was banged up, but initial reports from sources indicated his injuries were not life-threatening… and that he would be okay. He was transported to CCH by Barnstable Rescue.
A section of Route 6A was completely shut down for about an hour and 15 minutes as state police investigated the scene.
Route 6A was reopened at approximately 2:19AM.
