Two-year-old found wandering busy parking lot…
Hyannis – At approximately 10:30am, Barnstable Patrolman Kevin Donovan was dispatched 1019 Iyannough Road (Route 132) for a found toddler.
The child was found wandering the parking area outside of Cape Cod WIC and Hyannis “Family Planning.”

The mystery didn’t last long…
According to witnesses, a frantic young female in her mid-twenties was seen running from the neighboring Iyannough Village apartments toward Route 132. A young female witness observed that the frantic woman was definitely not presentable for ‘going out’ and that it was obvious she was in a big hurry.

The frantic female was noticeably relieved when she learned the child had been found and was safe inside the building. It is still uncertain if the frantic female was actually the child’s mother.
Inside sources revealed the very active toddler may have escaped the neighboring apartment by somehow climbing out a window. Another source reports this possibly was not the first time this sort of thing had happened.
Barnstable Police Sergeant Steve Maguire said the boy toddler was “like a gazelle,” meaning he was very active and definitely a handful to say the least.
The gazelle-like toddler was happily running circles around employees inside the entrance-way to WIC, while officers discussed the situation.
Although the child reportedly remained with mother, at least temporarily, members of the local Department of Children and Families [DCF] were called in to investigate… which is often mandated in these situations.
Hours later at 3pm, DCF employees met with Police Officers back at the scene. The DCF findings remain undisclosed…
… regardless, it was obviously terrifying moments for the frantic female who quite likely was the child’s young mother.
The good news, a wandering toddler was found safe and sound.
