*** WATCH *** BARNSTABLE HIGH SCHOOL EVACUATED AFTER BUNSEN BURNER LEFT OPEN
HYANNIS, Massachusetts – [HN video notes] – As you will see and hear in the following HN Video, at around 9:15 a.m. this morning, Barnstable High School was evacuated after a fire alarm was activated. A Barnstable Police school resource officer reported smelling a strong odor of natural gas. Students and staff were safely evacuated. Hyannis Firefighters were able to locate the source of the gas odor as coming from a science classroom. National Grid was called to also investigate the gas odor. According to HFD radio transmissions, the strong gas odor was caused by a Bunsen Burner that had been left open. The school was ventilated and the little darlin’s (God bless ’em) were able to safely return inside in order to eagerly continue their morning studies… so that they may someday grow up to have prosperous and fruitful lives!
