*** WATCH *** GOODWILL STORE & DONATION CENTER HEAVILY DAMAGED DURING SINGLE VEHICLE CRASH
HYANNIS, MASSACHUSETTS – As you will see and hear in the following HN Video, at around 12:16 p.m. today – Thursday, 11/14/24 – Hyannis Firefighters responded to the Goodwill Store & Donation Center at 141 Corporation Street after a Subaru SUV crashed into the front of the building.
One person was evaluated for what was believed to be minor injuries.
Damage to the building was described as extensive… and firefighters reportedly decided to evacuate all the businesses inside the Corporation Plaza.
Hyannis Fire engines and rescue units responded.
Tech Team members and equipment responded from across the Cape in order to shore up the structure. The structure needed to be supported before the vehicle could be removed.
Utilities needed to be secured as firefighters did first and secondary searches to make sure nobody was still inside the compromised structure.
Local building and electrical inspectors also responded…
The entire operation was expected to have lasted at least two hours, according to radio transmissions.
The Barnstable Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.
