Women attempts to drown herself…
Cotuit – Responding officers were notified that the woman attempting to drown herself was up to her neck in water.
The question was could they arrive in time to stop her.
At approximately 3pm, Barnstable Police were notified that a woman was attempting to drown herself near the boat ramp to Lovells Pond off Santuit-Newtown Road.
A Cotuit FD ambulance and rescue boat also responded to the scene.

Barnstable Patrolman Kevin Donovan and other first responders spend about 15 minutes talking to the woman after she was safely sitting on shore. Officer Donovan has years of experience and training calming individuals in crisis.
The woman’s husband also arrived at the scene but it was requested he leave as rescue workers wrapped the distraught woman in a blanket and carefully escorted her to the awaiting ambulance.
The woman was transported to Cape Cod Hospital where she’ll be safe and receive the help she needs.
