HN PHOTO: Yarmouth Police investigating serious crash that sent male driver to CCH…
SOUTH YARMOUTH – The first police officers on scene found the male driver unconscious. He appeared to be in serious condition, unresponsive, and struggling to breathe. The patient was entrapped, obviously experiencing some type of medical emergency…
… things didn’t look good and police initially requested an accident reconstruction team. A med-flight helicopter was also requested.
The crash happened near the intersection of Route 28 and Willow Street, at about 7:00p.m., where a sedan plowed into the back of a pickup, with the pickup then crashing into the back of Moonshine Liquors.
The patient remained unconscious during the extrication, his skin was turning blue, but shortly after a second dose of Narcan the patient miraculously regained consciousness (but it’s still uncertain if the patient was, in fact, suffering some type of overdose).
Because of the positive turn around in the patient’s condition, the med-flight helicopter was ultimately canceled. The accident reconstruction team was also canceled since it appeared the patient’s life was no longer in jeopardy.
The patient was rushed to Cape Cod Hospital while Yarmouth Police Officers closed off the area in order to investigate further. The accident may have involved a second vehicle at a second location. Officers were still investigating at the time of this report. HN will provide official updates as they become available.
