Gun threats near village green; intoxicated motorcyclist had trouble keeping bike upright… [Video]
Hyannis – Early this evening, police responded to a report that a black male had made gun threats toward someone walking near the village green. Responding officers were advised that he was wearing black pants and a gray top.
Police quickly caught up to the suspect in the area of the Federated Church on Main Street.
The man was handcuffed, but had trouble standing up and fell onto pavement.
The video at the end of this page shows officers helping the intoxicated man to his feet and into the back of a squad car.
It is still uncertain if the man actually had a gun or not. He appeared intoxicated and may have been just shooting his mouth off.
The man was transported to police headquarters for protective custody. It’s uncertain if additional charges regarding the gun threat will follow.
In other news, at around 7pm, officers received a call that a man had crashed his motorcycle on Ridgewood Ave.
While responding, Officers Burchell and Jackson learned they were not simply dealing with a motorcycle accident as originally thought.
Officers received additional information that an intoxicated man on a black motorcycle was having trouble keeping his bike upright while trying to leave the area.

Patrolman Burchell stopped the black motorcycle at the intersection of Center Street and Ridgewood Ave., where he administered field sobriety tests.

The man was arrested for Operating Under the Influence and transported to Barnstable Police Headquarters for booking.
