UPDATED DETAILS: Victim in brutal attack may have been defending younger friend… stabbed 3 times but expected to survive… suspect arrested less than 3 hours later… [VIDEO]

UPDATED DETAILS:
According to Sergeant Sean Sweeney of the Barnstable Police, the victim, Albert Randall, age 30, from Hyannis was with his 18-year-old friend prior to the attack. They were out riding their bicycles on Center Street when they were almost struck by a black Honda Accord. The 18-year-old yelled at the driver and that’s when all hell broke loose.
The driver, Marcus Pogue, age 21, of South Yarmouth and Mashpee, stopped, got out of the car and engaged in a heated argument. At one point, Pogue returned to the car and began speaking with a female passenger. The female tried to convince him to get in the car and leave. But Pogue apparently didn’t listen, as he ran back toward Randall and started to fight. At some point during the fistfight, Pogue pulled a knife and stabbed Randall three times.
Pogue then ran back to the car, jumped in, and fled in the direction of Main Street.
When police arrived, they found Randall on the pavement being tended to by his 18-year-old friend. It was then Randall told police he knew his attacker’s first name was possibly Marcus.
Marcus was described as having two large tattoos on his forearms, one arm with “CAPO,” the other with “VERDE.” A description of the car and partial license plate was also provided.
Officer Keith Sexton investigated and learned the same vehicle had been stopped by Truro Police days earlier. Sexton contacted Truro Police and confirmed that Marcus Pogue was a passenger during the traffic stop.
A description of the suspect and vehicle were given out to surrounding Police Departments.
At approximately 2:50am, the vehicle was spotted and stopped by Mashpee Police near the Rte 28 rotary in Mashpee. Marcus Pogue was driving. He was subsequently arrested and transported to the Barnstable Police Station.
Marcus Pogue is being charged with Armed Assault With Intent To Murder. He is also being charged with Assault And Battery By A Dangerous Weapon (To Wit Knife).
Pogue was held at the Barnstable Police Department on no bail until arraignment on Tuesday at Barnstable District Court.
Albert Randall 3rd received three serious stab wounds, one to the upper chest, one to the lower chest, and another to the elbow. Randall’s injuries are considered serious, but he’s expected to survive.
