UPDATED: Pickup truck flees after crashing into school bus… children were unharmed… [VIDEO]

At approximately 7:55 am, Officers from the Dennis Police Department responded to the report of a motor vehicle accident on Old Main St at the intersection of Route 28 in West Dennis. Officers were also informed that the crash involved a School bus.
Upon arrival Officers learned that a First Student School Bus had stopped at a stop sign on Old Main St at the intersection of Route 28 in West Dennis. Officers investigating the accident learned that while the school bus was stopped it was struck in the back by what is described as a white Chevrolet Pick-up truck with ladder racks. The operator of the Chevrolet truck backed up following the accident and was last seen fleeing north on Old Main St.
Dennis Fire/Rescue arrived and evaluated the children on the bus, no injuries are reported at this time. The school bus had some damage to the rear bumper but was able to leave the scene and continue to its destination.
Dennis Police Officers collected evidence at the scene and are currently investigating this incident. If anyone has information about the accident or the operator of the Chevrolet truck they are asked to please call the Dennis Police Department at (508) 394-1313.
The accident is being investigated by Patrolman Elizabeth Tucker.

DENNIS – At about 7:55am, police and rescue rushed to the intersection of Old Main Street and Route 28 after a pickup truck rammed into the back of a school bus carrying young children.
Rescue arrived and quickly examined the children. They appeared to be elementary school age children and were reportedly unharmed.
Officers contacted state police and surrounding town police departments asking them to be on the lookout for a white pickup truck, possibly a newer model Chevy, possibly with roof racks. The pickup reportedly received the brunt of the damage, with damages described as being to the front grill and hood. The hood was said to be bent.
The school bus had relatively minor damage and was able to drive away after about 25 minutes talking with officials at the scene.
According to a police radio transmission, the bus company will be providing the investigating officer with a list of the students on board at the time of the accident.
The pickup truck was reportedly last seen fleeing on Old Main Street towards Route 134.
Police are actively searching for the hit and run driver. He is possibly looking at felony charges for leaving an accident scene with property damages. Anyone with any information is urged to contact Dennis Police at 508-394-1315.
