Recent random photos… ‘n stuff…
HN NOTES: The following are just some of the random snapshots from this past week. Most HN images are never published, but occasionally they tell a story in and of themselves when all lumped together. In this case, the following photos show police and firefighters answering some serious calls during a wide range of extreme weather temperatures and conditions. I’m always asked whether there is anything going on or if it is busy or not…
In short, it is always busy in the mid-Cape area. Calls for overdoses and substance abuse have not improved, and at times it seems to have become worse. As you’ll see in some of the following photos, first responders in Hyannis spend much of their time helping intoxicated individuals off the ground so they do not freeze to death. First responders also manage to service calls that are not related to drugs and alcohol, but it is not unusual for fire departments to call for mutual aid from other departments to get the job done.
Please note that the following contains recent photos and not all of the details beyond the actual call are included…
Top photo/above photo: Yarmouth Firefighters responded and quickly knocked down a structure fire which ignited on the outside wall of a home at 59 Pawkannawkut Drive this afternoon. The fire reportedly was caused by a fireplace ash container that was stored too close to the building…
Above photo: A Barnstable Police Patrolman helps a highly intoxicated man found lying down in a snowbank this afternoon on Chestnut Street, Hyannis. Hyannis Rescue responded and convinced the man to go to CCH for treatment…
Above photos: A Barnstable Patrolman helped a highly intoxicated man off the cold wet ground on the Hyannis Village Green this afternoon. Hyannis Rescue was called to the scene…
Above photo: A senior citizen was hurt today when her vehicle left the roadway on Phinneys Lane and struck a tree. The woman reportedly lost control of her vehicle when she attempted to avoid rear-ending another car which had slowed just ahead of her… Her injuries were caused by the airbag deployment and were not considered life-threatening.
Above photo: Police responded to the CVS on North Street in Hyannis last week for an irate customer who reportedly was raising his voice inside of the store. He was angry because the pharmacy would not dispense a certain medication without the appropriate identification… Officers managed to calm the situation and no further police action was necessary.
Above photo: Temperatures were hovering around zero degrees when a Hyannis Firefighter discovered a pool of vomit and then a highly intoxicated man on the floor inside of a fire apparatus bay this past weekend. The extremely disoriented man had somehow entered the fire department without being detected. He was eventually taken into protective custody and transported back to a jail cell at Barnstable Police Headquarters for the remainder of the bone chilling evening.
Above photos: Wind chill temperatures were well below zero degrees when Yarmouth Firefighters responded to what was initially described as a chimney fire in Yarmouth Port this past weekend. Route 6A was closed down for a period of time after firefighters found a smoke condition and investigated further…
HN NOTE: I thought I’d be a “macho man” when I first hopped down, leaving my warm winter hat back inside the truck that evening… like a rookie photographer. It really didn’t feel too cold at first, sort of like a “spring day in northern New Brunswick,” I said as I swaggered past a Yarmouth Police Patrolman wearing just my baseball cap, camera in bare hand. What was I thinking? It didn’t take long for the wind to kick up as I hurried to take a couple of quick snapshots. It seemed like just a minute or two before my ears felt as though they were going to break off! A kind “source” at the scene told me it wasn’t considered to be a serious legitimate “chimney fire”… which is all I needed to hear as I quickly turned and headed back, remembering the first lesson of being out in the New Brunswick-like cold,
ALWAYS COVER THE SKIN YOU’D LIKE TO KEEP!
Above photo: Barnstable Police Officers helped a highly intoxicated woman who was discovered sitting all by herself in the extreme cold outside of a local hotel after midnight a few days ago…
Above photo: DEVELOPING — HN briefly spoke with a local man protesting the local Department of Children and Families.
HN has also recently spoken with several individuals who have serious complaints about the local DCF’s practices and ethics.
In fact, in recent months, there has been at least one extremely serious and highly documented report of a major conflict of interest involving a local DCF employee and one woman’s case. HN will be investigating these allegations of alarming court documented testimony and revelations that strongly imply corruption, along with unethical practices, and possible civil rights violations related to at least three clients of DCF. Anyone with information related to local DCF harassment and/or corruption is invited to contact HN at rjbastille@yahoo.com …
The Department of Children and Families is a very powerful state agency which arguably holds more unchecked powers than any other state agency, including all police agencies, etc… HN has observed this agency actually do some good work from time to time, especially when it comes to protecting children in emergency situations. But, HN also strongly suspects there have been several incidents where DCF personalities and individuals have used their powers in ways that have been abusive and clearly NOT in the best interests of children and families.
HN has detected a level of corruption that needs to be investigated further.
(I have been advised that Governor Charlie Baker has been forwarded past HN reports related to other topics, please feel free to forward this one as well. As it has to do with #DCF and HN will be allowing certain individuals to tell their stories in upcoming video interviews. What I have learned in recent months is alarming to say the least, and it needs to be disclosed and immediately investigated further!)
A corrupt DCF employee (or employees) can cause more harm and damage than what the agency professes to guard against in its intended mission. DCF corruption is a serious thing that needs to be investigated as it comes up, as it has the potential to profoundly harm and disrupt the lives of children and parents.
The problem is that DCF often operates in secret. DCF actions and remedies are adjudicated behind closed doors in secret courts. The current environment is so conducive to subjective forms of corruption, it’s impossible to believe that it does not happen more often than reported.
There simply are no checks and balances in the activities of our local DCF and the courts which rely heavily on their recommendations.
The allegations HN has learned of have been reportedly substantiated upon the witness stand. These allegations strongly suggest DCF corruption, to put it mildly…
Each case is complicated. There’s often “wrong” on both sides of any DCF case. But when a corrupted DCF takes their case in front of a judge, the wrong on their side has far wider implications.
The “facts” in these cases are overwhelming and complicated. Individuals often find themselves overwhelmed, rushing to tell their side of the story in a way which will bring any objective newcomer up to date. HN hopes to give these individuals a place to speak and be heard when they are ready to come forward.
But one thing is certain, the things I have witnessed in recent months are nothing short of inhumane. It’s scary to think ANY state agency has that much unchecked corruptible power!
So stay tuned…
Above photo: Last week, Barnstable Police and Hyannis Rescue responded to an address on Hinckley Road in the middle of a storm for an intoxicated man with a laceration on his head… the man was taken to CCH for treatment.
Above photo: Police responded to a Yarmouth address in the middle of a heavy snowstorm last week. They were busy investigating a report they received from a woman who said her roommate had told her that she was out someplace in Yarmouth and had been stabbed. The report caused police to “ping” the roommate’s cell phone and research likely leads… the result of the case in uncertain. It’s a call HN began to follow but eventually needed to head in a different direction…
Above photo: Barnstable Police and Hyannis Rescue responded to the Cape Cod Mall for a report that a store employee had just been “attacked” by “six girls…” According to radio transmissions, the attack happened inside of Macy’s and the girls scattered to different points within the mall with an undisclosed amount of stolen merchandise.
The female store employee reportedly had a head injury but refused to be transported to CCH.
The “six girls” were reportedly still at large.
