[Video] Homeless voice frustration…

Hyannis – Several Barnstable Police squad cars responded to the Best Value Inn on Main Street in the East End for a report that a female had been assaulted in one of the rooms.
Police didn’t know at first what they were dealing with. It turned out to be a domestic, where the female was actually the one taken into custody.
While taking photos, the man wearing a red jacket in the above photo was expressing anger about his situation. He approached Hyannis News wondering what I was doing and went on to express his frustration with being homeless and living on the street.
I later caught up to the man in the red jacket. His name is Dave and he is originally from Lynn, Massachusetts.
When I spoke with Dave it was raining and he was lying inside the bandstand on the Hyannis Village Green. Once he calmed down, Dave came across as a nice man who was just expressing frustration with his current situation and the plight of the homeless in general.
Dave mentioned he and many others like him have a story to tell. I told him I would be happy to talk more with him in the future regarding the problems surrounding the homeless, including the times when some cross the line and create disturbances. Dave thought that would be fair and agreed to speak with me again. Dave also introduced me to a couple of his friends who were just trying to stay dry inside the covered bandstand.
Dave and I shook hands and ended our conversation as friends.
I also met a 19-year-old homeless man named Mike Lapine. Mike has some health concerns which he describes in the following video.
Mike described how his problems began after he was literally kicked to the curb by his girlfriend in Connecticut. There were painful allegations and he needed to get away. Things have been quickly getting worse for Mike ever since…
The following video shows the reality of the streets of HyTown. It contains strong language and viewer discretion is advised.
It also shows a very frustrated Dave, quite different than the much friendlier man I caught up to later. If anyone watching this video has helpful information or advice for either of these men, please feel free to reach out in the comment section at the end of this page.
