CHRISTMAS EVE PARTY: Visitor stabbed, suspect’s mom arrested for hitting cop with frying pan…
HYANNIS – It was a wild and violent Christmas Eve for Barnstable Police Patrol Officers last evening.
At about 9:47PM, a 46-year-old man called police from Cape Mart on Center Street, telling officers he had just been stabbed.
According to a report read by Barntable Police Sergeant Sean Sweeney, the victim had been attending a party at 17 Washington Ave Ext., where a fight had broken out between him and his hosts.
According to a statement written by Barnstable Patrolman Armando Feliciano, the victim had been involved in some type of altercation with Roxanne Silvia and her daughter Leah Silvia. Leah Silvia then reportedly used a sharp object, believed to be a knife, to attack the victim when he was in the process of leaving the residence.
The victim reportedly suffered what were described as “significant” cuts to his arms and head. He was transported to CCH by Hyannis Rescue.
Police returned to the scene to speak with Leah Silvia, but were met by Roxanne Silvia, the suspect’s mother, who allegedly told officers her daughter was no longer there. The mother reportedly locked the officers out, but police had evidence the suspect was still inside of the residence.
At about 11:55PM, investigating officers received a warrant from the clerk magistrate and police forced entry into the residence soon thereafter.
While in the process of arresting the suspect, her mother reportedly continued to interfere and obstruct police efforts, at one point reportedly hitting a police officer with a frying pan.
Barnstable Police managed to prevail and several arrests were made.
Leah Silvia, age 20, was arrested and charged for A & B with a Dangerous Weapon for the alleged stabbing of the 46-year-old man.
Roxanne Silvia, age 46, the stabbing suspect’s mother, was arrested for A & B with a Dangerous Weapon for allegedly hitting a police officer with a frying pan. She was also charged with allegedly Impeding and Obstructing Police, along with Resisting Arrest.
A third person, Marc Gendron, age 43, was also arrested at the scene for Disorderly Conduct.

NOTES: HN drove by Washington Ave Ext. to take the above photo. There were several adults and at least one small child at the location of last evening’s party. The adults appeared to still be animated over the evening’s unfortunate events. A man who identified himself as “Harvey” came out and briefly spoke with HN. He told HN that there is more to the story, and that the stabbing victim may have done something to provoke the attack.
Harvey and I shook hands and wished each other a Merry Christmas. He was told HN will update this story should anyone at the party wish to provide their perspective… but out of respect for the family and young children, it would be best to wait until after the holiday.
