Here’s a HyTown story that has spread across New England… from the Boston Herald, multiple Associated Press feeds, various regional newspapers, and Boston TV news programs… discovered and seen here first on HyannisNews.com!
Hyannis – Despite blizzard conditions throughout the evening and early morning, police and rescue workers had their hands full with a wide array of complaints…
… including a dispute between two neighbors over the blowing of snow.
During the wee hours, around 3am, Barnstable Police responded to the area of 649 Main Street for a snow shovel attack between a neighbor and a store owner.
The attack was the end result of a disagreement over the placement of snow-blown snow…
According to the store owner, and alleged victim, he was using his snow blower to clear his parking area when a neighbor started screaming out an upstairs window at him…
The neighbor then reportedly came down and met the store owner carrying a snow shovel… the neighbor then professed he wanted to help, but instead of helping he suddenly started to violently swing the snow shovel, hitting the store owner 3 times before being disarmed…
The victim told Hyannis News that he was feeling pretty sore today after the not-so-neighborly clobbering with the business end of his neighbor’s snow shovel…
The victim also related the attack was so bad it alarmed nearby witnesses who also started to come over to help…
The attacker was reportedly largely obese and the first police officer on scene had difficulty fitting him with handcuffs… a second officer arrived and the man was eventually secured in manacles and transported to Barnstable Police Headquarters for booking.
According to Barnstable Police Sergeant David Myett, 55-year-old William Kaouette of Hyannis received a felony charge of Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, “to wit” a snow shovel.
The victim of the shovel attack refused rescue treatment at the scene, but today is feeling the effects of being violently struck with a shovel…
